Longtime Sonora Engineer Fuccillo Retires

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The City of Sonora is going through a transition period when it comes to engineering services.

Longtime City Engineer Jerry Fuccillo has retired after 36 years of service. Sonora City Administrator Tim Miller says Fuccillo has agreed to help the city on an “as-needed basis” over the next six months. Miller also notes that there are several maps and records that need to be transitioned from Fuccillo’s office to the city’s repository.

For some of the upcoming city projects, such as the planned Greenley Road widening at Mono Way, Miller says the city plans to contract with outside engineers. That said, the city does expect to fill Fucillo’s position, hiring a part-time engineer, in the coming months. Long-term, when finances allow, Miller would like to eventually see the city hire a full-time Public Works Director/City Engineer. Miller has been covering in the Public Works Director role since the retirement of Ed Wyllie.
