Sonora, CA – What does it take to run a campground on the Stanislaus National Forest (STF)?

It is a question Forest Service officials are asking of those seeking to apply or reapply for campground concessionaire “special use permits” for three campground complexes, including Pinecrest Lake. Forest officials want proposals submitted before August 28.

Forest spokesperson Veronica Lopez explains, “That means providing information, providing different hosts. Hosts actually stay at the campgrounds and are there to help the campers and make sure everything is under policy.”

The campgrounds involved are in the Summit District. Here is the Forest Service’s list:

  • Clark Fork Complex (Permit Area 1), including Sand  Flat and Clark Fork
  • Campgrounds Baker Deadman Complex (Permit Area 2), including Baker Campground
  • Deadman Campground
  • Kennedy Meadows Trailhead and Camping Area
  • Pinecrest Complex (Permit Area 3), including Pinecrest and Meadowview Campgrounds, Pioneer Trail Group Campground, and Pinecrest Trailer Dump Station

The permits will be for the 2016 recreation session.  Click here for more details on the permit process.

  • Pinecrest Lake - Following Weekend Rainfall
