Shots Fired At Lake Camanche: One Arrest

Lake Camanche, CA — Campers at 11700 Wade Land at Lake Camanche campgrounds reported a man’s unusual and frightening behavior.

On Sunday, June 14th at 4am Deputies were dispatched for a report of a man shooting a gun into the air. Several campers described the shooter as a large, bald man, wearing a white t-shirt and talking about gangs, making “pop sounds”, and later the sound of a real gunshot. Deputies contacted the suspect, identified as Angelo Esquer, and placed him under arrest. Esquer was searched and Deputies found methamphetamine and a switchblade knife. A small semi-auto handgun was also located in the nearby area.

Angelo Esquer was transported and booked into Calaveras County Jail for Possession of a Firearm by a convicted Felon, Willfully Discharge Firearm in Grossly Negligent Manner, Public Intoxication, Carry Switchblade Knife on person, Prohibited Possession of Ammunition by Felon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Esquer’s bail is set at $32,500.
