Public Water Forums To Discuss Solutions, Gather Votes

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Long-term solutions for local water woes will be front and center beginning this Wednesday at three community water forums hosted by the Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD).

TUD officials are encouraging the public to attend to hear, firsthand, what solutions have been generated, discussed and vetted by the region’s Community Water Council to address the region’s water needs, not only through the drought but through the next century.

Presentations will include ideas from meetings attended this past spring by representatives from public utilities, environmental groups, public officials, and other community stakeholder groups. Members of the public who attend any of the coming forums are invited to share their thoughts in open discussion periods as well as vote on the water solution recommendations they like best.

The meetings schedule is as follows:

–Wednesday, June 10, at Sonora Opera Hall, from 6-8 p.m.
–Thursday, June 11, at Columbia Elementary, from 6-8 p.m.
–Thursday, June 18, at Tuolumne Memorial Hall, from 6-8 p.m.

Those who do not attend a forum may still weigh in online by clicking here to access an online survey, for which votes will be gathered through Friday, June 26.
