Building A Tourism “Toolbox”
Sonora, CA – The newest trends in travelers’ needs and ways to bring in tourist dollars will be the focus of the Tuolumne County Tourism Summit.
With the tourism season soon to kick into high gear, the Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau wants to help businesses with some new ideas for promoting themselves. Bureau Executive Director Lisa Mayo says some of the topics to be discussed include how to engage media to promote business, building partnerships with local businesses and organizations, and what’s new in Tuolumne County. Additionally, Mayo points to a growing trend: catering to travelers with dogs. “It’s not just about putting out a bowl of water anymore. It’s more about is there someone there that can take the dog for a walk while the people are out traveling around? What does the hotel have to offer — do they have a dog bed?”
Key speakers at the summit will include representatives from the state’s Visit California marketing team and there will be a session on how to create a “toolbox” for staff. Mayo says this will include valuable information on resources to become knowledgeable on almost everything about Tuolumne County.
The summit will be held May 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Sonora. For more details, you can contact the Bureau at 209-533-4420.
