Unique Events And Fundraisers In March

It is a weekend of unique events and several fundraisers in the Mother Lode this weekend.

The Sonora-based Motherlode Makerlabs will be joining a worldwide event called Arduino Day 2015. Arduino refers to open-source computer hardware, software, and a community that uses it to create devices and objects that sense and interact with the physical world. The event will be held from 9am to 9pm on Saturday at Tech Lounge co-located with the office/gallery of the Tuolumne County Arts Alliance at 251-C Barretta Street. Local makers and hackers will be demonstrating their projects. Saturday, March 28th, groups from all over the world are celebrating Arduino Day 2015. California has 10 locations joining in, including the Motherlode Maker Labs in Sonora.

Both Saturday and Sunday is the Gem and Jewelry Show by the Calaveras Gem and Mineral Society. The event offers free lessons, gold panning, exhibits, 13 different activities for kids, a raffle, auction, and food. Ticket prices and more information are in the Gem and Jewelry show event listing.

Also on Saturday is an event called “A Walk of Remembrance: A Domestic Violence Walk and Barbecue”. Walk to represent a memory, listen to survivors of domestic violence share their stories, get information on resources, and enjoy a barbecue lunch. Support the Sonora High School Trap Club, now in its 6th year, at the 1st annual golf tournament fundraiser. There are 40 Young athletes who will be competing in California Youth Shooting Sports Association (CYSSA) sanctioned competitions throughout the state. They hope to return to Las Vegas for the U.S. Open Youth Trapshooting Championships. More information is in the Sonora High Trap Club Golf Fundraiser event listing.

Get in the Easter spirit by Visiting the Easter Bunny at the Moose Lodge. The Community is invited to a visit with the Easter Bunny from 11am to 1 pm on Saturday, there will be raffles for children’s bicycles, kids ten and under can play games for prizes.

Saturday evening Sonora Rotary is hosting a Chinese Dinner and Auction Sonora Opera Hall. All proceeds will go to WATCH Resources and Community Projects, ticket prices and contact information are here.

Other fundraising events include; the Storybook Tea Party benefiting “Read To Me” Family Literacy Program, and a Mountain Ranch 4-H Chili Cook Off.
