Several Construction Projects In Yosemite

Sponsored by:

Yosemite, CA — Yosemite National Park reports that three notable construction projects will be completed by Memorial Day weekend, the traditional kickoff to the summer travel season.

This month the park will begin the first phase of improvements to the Yosemite Lodge parking area. It will increase space available at the Lodge, and is also designed to improve traffic flow in Yosemite Valley by parking vehicles west of Lower Yosemite Falls. A future phase of the project will include the installation of permanent bathroom facilities.

The park is currently completing the rehabilitation of 15-miles along Tioga Road, from the Crane Flat intersection to just east of White Wolf Campground. The work includes improvements to culverts, grading, pavement resurfacing, new signage, and road striping. The work began this past June.

In addition, the park is completing improvements to the parking area at the Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias. The project entails improvements to the restrooms, new interpretive signs, a designated bus drop-off location, improved picnic area and better organized parking.
