This weekend, the Backcountry Horsemen of California will gather for a statewide Rendezvous at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds (Frogtown) in Angels Camp.
Jody Rumsey, spokesperson for the local MidValley Unit of the Backcountry Horsemen, was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
The MidValley Unit of the Backcountry Horsemen helps clears the trails in the foothills and the Sierra Nevada for all, hikers and horses.
The three day state wide event at the Angels Camp Fairgrounds is open to the public and the admission is free. It runs today (Friday), Saturday and Sunday.
The only things that have a cost is the Davey Stamey (Cowboy Poetry) concert or if you want to enter into one of the competitions- trail competition or the Dutch oven contest.
There will be plenty of vendors, training clinics, competitions, which include a pack scramble, trail challenge & the previously mentioned dutch oven cook off.
There will also be demonstrations on dutch oven cooking, packing & more.
Additionally, there is a Western Art Show, wine & cheese tasting, kids activities, cowboy church and plenty of other things to see and do.
BLM will also be out there holding their Mustang & Burro Adoption.
