Sonora, CA — A finalist has emerged to replace the retiring Tuolumne County Health Officer, Dr. Todd Stolp.

On Tuesday the Board of Supervisors will vote whether to appoint Dr. Liza Ortiz as County Health Officer. Since 2012, Dr. Ortiz has been a Primary Care Physician in Chicago. She previously completed her residency programs at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, and at UCSD Medical Center in San Diego. She is a licensed physician and surgeon by the Medical Board of California, and board certified in preventative medicine. The Supervisors will vote whether to approve a $145,354 salary, based on a 32 hour work week, and $5,000 for moving expenses. Dr. Ortiz would officially step into the new role on April 2nd. Tuolumne County has been reviewing candidates over the past couple of months.  The Board is also scheduled to pass a resolution on Tuesday thanking outgoing Dr. Stolp for his years of service.
