Edson To Lead Calaveras Supervisors In 2015
San Andreas, CA — The new Chairman of the Calaveras Supervisors says economic issues top his personal list of priorities in 2015.
Cliff Edson was recently elected to lead the Supervisors over the next year. He represents District One, which covers the greater region of San Andreas, Valley Springs, Burson and Wallace. A big priority of his is looking at ways to increase water supply, and also help improve the health of the surrounding forest. He’s been leading an ad-hoc group looking into the matter.
“I’ve been working on a watershed management program, which could be an economic development program, for the county,” he says. “It could reduce wildfires, and increase water yield, for the drought situation in California.”
It’s an issue he expects will be a big topic of discussion later this year
Edson would also like to see the creation of a business incubator, in partnership with local business groups, which would serve as a retail outlet, and location for classes that could be beneficial to local businesses.
Edson also notes that the completion of the long anticipated General Plan update, will be a major priority, and passing a balanced budget. Just this week the Calaveras Supervisors took up another notable matter, hiring Shirley Ryan as the new CAO, following the departure of Lori Norton this September.
Also of note, Chris Wright will be the Vice-Chair for 2015.
