A Wind Advisory is now in effect for the Sierra Nevada. This will be upgraded to a High Wind Warning from 4 PM Tuesday to 10 AM Wednesday.
Winds of fifteen to fifty mph will continue, with gusts near the crest of the Sierra ranging from fifty-five to eighty mph.
This wind event will conclude as a Wind Advisory by 5 PM on Wednesday.
A Wind Advisory has also been issued for the Central Valley through Noon on Wednesday.
Winds of twenty to thirty-five mph will continue with gusts ranging from forty-five to fifty-five mph.
A Freeze Watch has also been issued for the Central Valley from late Wednesday night (New Year’s Eve) through Friday morning.
Low temperatures will range from the mid to upper twenties. There will be potential durations below freezing temperatures of up to eight hours.
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is either occurring or is expected. Gusts of fifty-eight mph or more can lead to property damage.
