Sponsored by:

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada above 7000 feet, which is in effect from Tuesday morning through late Wednesday night.

A strong winter storm will begin to affect the region Tuesday and will continue into Thursday. The period of heaviest snowfall is expected Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Snow levels will begin around 8500 feet Tuesday morning before dropping Tuesday night.

One to three feet of snow accumulation is expected.

Winds of twenty-five to thirty-five mph with gusts up to fifty mph are likely.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
