Black Friday Statistics
Sonora, CA — Many are already out shopping in the Mother Lode this morning, in hopes of getting Black Friday deals.
ShopperTrak, which researches Black Friday trends, says sales slumped 13.2% last year. However, its unclear how the numbers will turn out today.
Many stores started holiday sales earlier this month, so Black Friday has become somewhat less important to the bottom line. However, the National Retail Federation still estimates that 60% of Americans will go shopping on Black Friday, or later in the Thanksgiving weekend.
ShopperTrak does note that sales for the entire Christmas season are expected to rise 4.1% to $611.9 billion.
