Three Hurt In Calaveras Crash
Valley Springs, CA — The CHP has released more details about a crash that occurred in the Valley Springs area.
It happened Monday morning on Pettinger Road near Messing Road. The CHP reports that 23-year-old Marie Lester of Valley Springs was stopped in a 2014 Chevy Cruze at the end of Raindance Road, and was preparing to cross over Pettinger Road onto Messing Road.
Lester told CHP officers that she stopped, looked both ways, and observed a large PG&E truck slowing in the southbound lane of Pettinger Road, just north of Raindance Road. She thought the PG&E truck driver was waving her through the intersection, show she accelerated and moved forward. However, she was then hit by an oncoming 1993 Honda Accord on Pettinger Road, driven by 32-year-old John Kanmore of Valley Springs. She did not see the Honda approaching. The Chevy Cruze flipped over and landed on the roof. Lester, and a lone passenger, 73-year-old Helen Hosford of Valley Springs, suffered minor injuries. Kanmore also reported minor injuries.
The crash was reported at 8am.
