Sonora, CA — Paving of Mono Way will begin this week and close parts of the road at night. According to Sonora City Engineer Jerry Fuccillo, “Night Paving Work is scheduled for November 4th, 5th and 6th for roadway repairs and roadway paving between Greenly Road and Fir Drive on Mono Way. This work will include grinding and paving of existing asphalt surfaces, paving widened roadway sections, business and residential driveways.”

The night work will partially close the area between 7:00PM and 7:00AM for those three consecutive nights. The night paving work will finish at 7:00AM on Friday. Businesses and other local access will be provided. Temporary traffic control restrictions will be in affect starting Tuesday evening at 7:00PM

Finishing the project will likely have to wait until spring. As reported here, Fuccillo said this one layer of paving should make the five lanes drivable by December but due to weather the main paving will not be done until spring. This week work on the aggregate base in preparation for paving, sidewalks and streetlight foundations.  Work will continue on the railing and fence.

During the night paving work, Westbound Mono Way through traffic will be detoured at Fir Drive to Sanguinetti Road after 9 p.m. Eastbound traffic will be closed to through traffic at Rogers Road from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. and traffic should detour to Sanguinetti Road at Greenley Road.
