Calaveras Business Is “Recovering”

Sponsored by:

There is a new Executive Director at the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce.

Staci Johnston, Executive Director, was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Johnston replaced former Executive Director Diane Gray.

Before taking the position, Johnston was involved with the Calaveras community as a small business owner. Since 1998, Johnston was the owner and director of an in-home daycare that she operated in Valley Springs.

Johnston says her future goals for the chamber are to build up new businesses and promote the longtime county merchants as well.

“We are growing,” said Johnstone. “We have over 400 business members and have added several more just within the last two months that I’ve been here.”

When asked about the current state of business in Calaveras, Johnston stated, “Business is recovering. There is evidence in nearly every major community throughout the county. We are hearing some good news from our business members and working with others to help them grow.”

The Chamber’s office is at 39 North Main Street across from the Calaveras Museum.

This Saturday October 25th, the 3rd Annual “Wines on Main” event will take place from 3 pm – 6 pm. This event will showcase many wineries & food vendors who will provide samples of their wines, appetizers, desserts & more. Tickets are $20.

Please contact the office for more information 754-5400.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 AM.
