Rain Knocks Down King Fire

Pollock Pines, CA — The Incident Command Team reports that 1-3 inches of rain fell in areas of the King Fire over the past four days.

The fire’s forward rate of spread has been stopped, and there is a solid containment line around 89% of the perimeter. Several firefighters are now being released from incident. The fire started two weeks ago, and at its peak, there were around 8,000 firefighters. The number is currently around 4,400. 12 homes and 68 outbuildings have been destroyed.

The fire, near Pollock Pines, is 97,099 acres.
