According to the National Weather Service, there may be thunderstorms and snow in the Sierra Nevada above 8000 feet this weekend.
Thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon hours both today and Saturday.
Up to four inches of snow is possible above 8000 feet tonight through Saturday morning.
Snow could affect travel on high mountain passes such as Ebbetts and Sonora passes and cause difficulties for outdoor activities.
The chance of rain showers will continue in the mountains through the weekend before the storm system exits to the east on Sunday. Warm and dry weather will return next week.
