Flames Forward Progress Stopped

San Andreas, CA — Cal Fire reports the forward rate of spread has been halted in the Reed Fire on the southside of San Andrea. The fire remains 45% contained at 120 acres in size. Cal Fire reports crews will remain on scene working into the night.

As we reported earlier, the evacuations were lifted for the 30 homes on Howell Road, Magers Way and the Saddleback Subdivision at 7 pm. The flames broke out around 4 pm on the 300 block of George Reed Road near Highway 49.  A stretch of the highway was closed for about an hour.

There are 246 firefighters, 22 engines, 9 fire crews, 5 water tenders, 2 dozers, 1 air attack and helicopter. Assisting are San Andreas Fire, Mokelumne Hill Fire, Central Fire, Foothill Fire, CHP, and the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office.
