Segarini Retiring As Chamber President

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The President and CEO of the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce will retire at the end of the year.

George Segarini sent a letter to Chamber Directors this morning stating that he will leave the post effective December 31st. His letter states that he has been contemplating the move for over a year, and no longer has the energy needed to run the organization, and says new leadership will be beneficial. “I have enjoyed my work with the Chamber and have always said that I was having fun while leading the Chamber over the past 17 years,” added Segarini. “At this time the fun isn’t what it used to be, which means it is time to move on.”

Segarini added that he will miss working with his staff and such a diversified group of business people in the community. He will stay busy by continuing to help his son run their Italian restaurant in downtown Sonora.

When contacted this morning, Margaret Davis, Chairperson of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, stated that Segarini will be greatly missed. “I think George has been the Chamber of Commerce,” adds Davis. “He’s been around for a longtime, he attends all kinds of meetings and he just goes over and above for the Chamber.”

Davis says the Board of Directors will likely put together a hiring committee to find Segarini’s replacement over the next couple of months. The person selected would likely be brought in to work with Segarini leading up to his December 31st retirement.
