Haigh Fire Update: 20% Contained

Coulterville, CA — The Haigh Fire grows to 130 acres and is 10% contained this morning. Cal Fire has decreased the acreage on the Haigh Fire from 130 to 111 acres and crews are making progress, as the flames are 20% contained this morning.

Firefighters continued to battle the blaze throughout the night. The flames are burning oak woodland and brush off Highway 49 by Haigh Road north of Coulterville in Mariposa County. No structures have been damaged or destroyed and none are threatened.

The flames broke out after 3 pm yesterday. All of Columbia Air Attack along with four engines, one dozer, a strike team of five engines, and two strike teams of inmate, which can be up to 15 inmates, from the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of Cal Fire are helping to battle the blaze. Some additional numbers this morning on the resources on scene, there are 330 firefighters, 32 engines, 12 fire crews, 4 air tankers, 4 helicopters, 7 dozers and 4 water tenders.

There has been two minor injuries. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.  Click  here for a map of the fire area.
