Mono Way Widening Starts Monday

Sonora, CA — Construction on the Mono Way widening project is set to get under way this coming Monday.

“The work will begin in earnest next week, and it will start on Mountain View Road, which is off Fir Drive, on the east end of the project,” says Sonora City Administrator Tim Miller. “We’re reconstructing that road as part of the Mono Way widening. They will be out there Monday and Tuesday to start the demolition and utility work, and then proceed to the road work. Crews will also be working on the west end of the project next week, down by Cameron Lane towards Rogers Road, widening out that shoulder, in anticipation of retaining wall construction and road widening.”

Miller says there may be some lane closures over the next couple of weeks that could disrupt some traffic flow. He notes that the major storm drain work will not occur until mid-July. During that two week period in July there will be notable delays and detours.

The long anticipated project, which will widen Mono Way from Greenley Road to Fir Drive, is scheduled to be completed in the Fall. George Reed Incorporated is overseeing construction.
