Miss Calaveras County 2014 Crowned Last Night

The 2014 Miss Calaveras was crowned Thursday night, during the Miss Calaveras Scholarship Pageant at the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee.

Sabrina Perez was also Friday morning’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Perez is a seventeen year old senior at Calaveras High School. She lives in Valley Springs.

During the talent portion of the Scholarship Pageant, which was 40% of the judges total vote, Perez performed a theatrical Color Guard dance that made aggressive use of flags and models of rifles.

Perez will be using her $1,000 scholarship winnings this fall as she plans to attend Sacramento State University. She would like to major in psychology and eventually become a psychological therapist.

Perez has lived in Calaveras county her entire life.

First Runner-Up was Ashley Watts, a seventeen year old senior at Calaveras High School.

Second Runner-Up was Leah Jean Bayers, a seventeen year old senior at Calaveras High School.

All three ladies will make appearances at all of the major Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee events over the next three days.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45am.
