Popular Sonora Restaurant Sold
Sonora, CA — The owners of the Diamondback Grill confirm they have sold the downtown eatery. Eric Davis, and his wife Claudia, have owned the restaurant for nearly 22 ½ years.
“The Diamondback will be transferring to a couple that have lived here locally and had a home here for over ten years,” says Eric Davis, “They’ll be taking over with the commitment to keep it exactly as it is with our staff and the menu.”
Davis declined to name the new owners. However, an application for ownership change in the window of the restaurant cites the couple as Lana Smith and Frank Uzzardo. Davis says they have hospitality and restaurant experience and have owned several businesses in the bay area. He adds the new owners should take over in about six weeks.
“It’s a little bittersweet because I love the brand that we have built. I love the role we have played in the community. I love my staff and customers that we have had over the years. I can’t work forever and this is a good time for us to slow down a little bit.”
A little bit, because Davis still owns the Standard Pour Restaurant in Standard. Davis says this is all part of their plans to ease into retirement and he will continue running that restaurant.
“I will still be working there. Certainly, we have no plans to leave town or completely retire. I still have plenty of work left in me.”
