Sonora, CA – The Sonora Police Department (SPD) has released further details on the man who intentionally jumped in front of a pick-up truck on Stockton Road. The accident happened Tuesday around 4:08 p.m. on Stockton Road near Mill Villa Court. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a male victim over an embankment.

Witnesses told the Officers that a 2006 Ford pick-up was westbound on Stockton Road. The man was walking eastbound along the north shoulder when he intentionally jumped about 3 feet into the roadway in front of the truck. The right front corner struck the man and police say the force of the impact launched the man over an embankment and down a small ravine.

An investigation is ongoing. Chief Mark Stinson says, “We probably won’t release the pedestrians name since it was an intentional act.”

The SPD reports the man suffered major injuries as the result of the impact with the vehicle, pavement and vegetation. He was air lifted to a Modesto hospital and is in critical condition.
