Bear Valley, CA – One man was killed and a woman suffered major injuries on a trail near Bear Valley. The accident happened Saturday around 1 p.m. on a groomed snowmobile trail between Highway 4 and south of School House Road.

The CHP reports 64-year-old Robert Roseberry was driving a 2007 Ski Doo snowmobile with his wife, Paulette Roseberry, on the back when it crashed. The couple had been visiting from Campbell, California.

CHP spokesperson Becky Myers says, “The driver of the snowmobile, for unknown reasons, went off the trail and crashed into a tree. Neither of them was wearing a helmet.”

Robert Roseberry died in the crash and Paulette suffered major injuries. She was flown to Doctors Hospital in Modesto.

The CHP is waiting on toxicology reports to see if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Myers says they are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the wreck to call the CHP at 209-754-3541.
