Sonora, CA– A handful of Sonora High School Students will benefit from the generosity and appetites of hundreds of community members over the weekend.

The 28th annual Frank Salel Super Bowl Breakfast sponsored by the Sonora 49er Rotary club went smoothly according to club member and Chairperson Scott Barry.

Barry says that they served about 1,200 meals. An initial count of the net money raised at the breakfast is between $22,000 and $23,000. Barry noted several large donations from area businesses including the largest, $2,500 from Black Oak Casino.

The money will go into a fund that will pay for Dictionaries for 3rd graders and 10 scholarships. Barry said the organizers will discuss adding scholarships for Summerville students because there are several Summerville students and parents who help out.

Fox reports an estimated 111.5 million viewers watched Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seattle Seahawks’ 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos.
