Surprise Grants For Calaveras Charities

Sponsored by:

Angels Camp, CA — The Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) gets a generous donation to distribute. The Federlein Family Fund of San Francisco has donated $20,000 to give surprise grants to various local organizations.

CCF Spokesperson Chyrl Hillis says, “The Fund distributor is really adamant about supporting seniors. She likes working with us because we are a small rural county and she knows seniors up here are wanting.”

Hillis explains the money was given to these five local organizations that the CCF could not help because they did not have enough money in their regular budget:

Calaveras County Senior Center, Inc.
Copperopolis Community Food Pantry
Good Samaritan Food Pantry-Valley Springs
Hospice of Amador and Calaveras County
Murphys Senior Center

The funds distributor, Chris Federlein, designated the amount to each charity with $5,000 going to the first four and $2,500 to the Murphys charity.

Federlein states, “I feel fortunate that I am in a position where I can contribute financially to organizations that help seniors not only meet their basic needs, but also enhance their quality of life”

In total, the fund has awarded CCF more than $81,000 over the past several years. These funds are in memory of Lloyd Federlein.
