Update: Overturned Trailer on Highway 108
Sonora, CA — An overturned semi-trailer in Sonora slows traffic for several hours. The accident happened around 1:15 this afternoon on Highway 108. The CHP reports 56-year-old William Burkett of Jamestown was trying to make a left turn from south Washington Street onto the highway when the semi-trailer tipped over. It was carrying a full load of sand, which spilled onto the eastbound lane, and shoulder of 108.
Officer Elliot Lopez says, “The truck driver was just going a little too fast for the turn. Unfortunately, it’s a turn he has done many times before, but for some reason this time 10 to 15 miles per hour was just too fast when he made the left hand turn.”
Traffic was down to one-lane for about 2 hours as crews cleared the debris. The CHP reports there were no injuries in the crash.
