A Million Dollar Bail

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — A Sonora man’s bail has been set for a million dollars after repeated domestic violence charges.

On Thursday, Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home on Chukar Circle for a report of domestic violence. When the Deputies arrived on the scene, they found a victim with visible injuries. She was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.

During the investigation deputies determined that 56-year-old Robert Donnell Haire IV had allegedly kept the victim captive for nearly eight hours and had assaulted the victim several times. Haire had also repeatedly threatened to harm the victim in the future. At the time of the incident, he had an Emergency Protective Order against him which barred him from having contact with the victim.

According to Sgt. Scott Johnson this was not his first arrest. He says, “Haire was arrested on December 28th for domestic violence involving the same victim. He was able to get out of jail on the 31st and then he was arrested again on the 31st for assaulting the same victim. He was able to bail himself out of jail on January 1st and then assaulted the victim again.”

Johnson says the arresting deputy asked the court for Haire’s bail to be enhanced due to his history of domestic violence against the victim. Bail was set at one million dollars. Haire faces numerous domestic violence charges.
