Sonora, CA — A Sonora woman surprised a burglar in her home and she assisted police in his capture. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s officials report the incident happened Friday at 8:30a.m. on Caleb Court in the Lambert Lakes Subdivision in Sonora.

Investigators report when the woman came home she interrupted a burglar in her house. The male suspect took off running with a bag of stolen items and jumped into a vehicle parked near the house. When deputies arrived on the scene the victim gave a detailed description of the suspect, his vehicle, and the stolen bag. A “Be on the Lookout” alert was put out for the vehicle and suspect.

A short time later a CHP Officer spotted the vehicle in front of a home in the 19000 block of Serrano Road in East Sonora. He notified the Sheriff’s Department and deputies came to the house.

Sgt. Scott Johnson says, “Several people were questioned in the home and the victim was brought to the scene. She was able to positively identify the vehicle and suspect 19-year-old Zackery Moore.”

Moore was arrested and booked to the Tuolumne County Jail. During a search of the home a laptop computer and several other stolen items were discovered.

Moore faces charges of Burglary and Possession of Stolen Property. His bail was set at $5000.
