Groveland, CA — A crime scene in a Stockton home led police to a body and the arrest of the murder suspect in a Groveland home.

Thursday, Stockton Police Officers responded to a tip about a possible murder at a house on the 4500 block of Mist Trail Drive. When officers arrived at the home, they found the tenants had moved out. Stockton Police officers searched the house and found evidence of a bloody crime scene, but no body. Tips led detectives to a possible suspect at a home in Groveland. That is when Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to assist in checking out that house.

Stockton Police Officer Joe Silva says, “The deputies located the suspect and also a body. At this time we don’t have the body identified, but I can say that it is an adult male and right now the cause of death is unknown.”

Silva says the address of the home is not being released at this time. Stockton Police report 38-year-old Bryan Cook was arrested for suspicion of homicide at the scene without incident. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.

Detectives are also looking for 49-year-old Valentina Taz. Silva says she is wanted for questioning in the case, but is not a suspect in the murder. Detectives believe she may be in the Sonora or Groveland areas.
