Bar Fight Led To Arrest

Sonora, CA — A New Year’s Eve bar room brawl ended with the arrest of a Sonora man.
Officers were called to the Zane Iron Horse Lounge on South Washington Street in downtown Sonora around 6 pm for a report of a fight. When officers arrived on the scene, they determined 54-year-old Jay Nichols had started a fist fight inside the bar.
Sonora Police Chief Mark Stinson says, “Nichols had punched a fellow patron two to three times in the face. One of the punches caused a three inch laceration above the victim’s eye that appeared to need stiches.”
Nichols was arrested and charged with felony battery.
