Suspect From Surveillance Video Arrested

Sonora, CA — Surveillance video from two burglaries led police to arrest suspect Derek Helfrich, 18 of Jamestown recently. The police department reports, “Several commercial burglaries were reported… One business in Sonora and one in Jamestown had surveillance video of the responsible, which was taken during the commission of the burglaries.”

The identified suspect, Helfrich, contacted the Sonora Police Department after they failed to make contact with him at several locations. According to the report he had heard the Police were looking for him. Helfrich was taken into custody without incident at his father’s residence on Ruth Lane in Sonora.

At the time of Helfrich’s arrest, he was in possession of drug paraphernalia which he was booked for in addition to felony commercial burglary.
