Sonora Volleyball’s Historic Season Continues

Sonora, CA — The Sonora girls volleyball team was victorious in the first round of the Division IV NorCal tournament against St. Patrick-St. Vincent.

It is the furthest that Sonora High’s volleyball team has ever made it in tournament play. They won three straight sets at Sonora High last night, 11-25, 13-25, and 18-25. The next match will be held in the Sonora High School Gym Saturday, November 30th at 7:00pm against Soquel.

Sonora is the number two seed in the tournament and Soquel is number three. Menlo, the number one seed, will be playing fifth seeded Hilmar on Saturday. The winners of the second round of finals will be in the NorCal Finals on December 3rd. The winner of that match will then move on to play in the Division IV championship, playing the winner of the Southern Division. The State Finals will be held on December 7th at Santiago Canyon College in Orange County.

Head Coach Kim Evans is in her sixth year at Sonora High.

The Sonora High varsity team members are Ali Pelfrey, Kelsie Evans, Bailey Henington, Kiana Pisula, Bella Bergamaschi, MaKenzee Hope, Shannon Friend, Angela Gardella, Maria Chacon, Savannah Lawrence, Leah Dambacher, and Ashely Pittman.
