Blue Mountain Minerals Stays Active In Community

Sponsored by:

Blue Mountain Minerals, located in Columbia, is the largest producer of limestone products in Northern California.

CEO Jeff Redoutey was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Redoutey said, “We make limestone and limestone is one of those industrial minerals that you find in everything, ranging from glass to paper to plastic.”

According to Redoutey, the future of growth for limestone is in agriculture. The majority of Blue Mountain Mineral’s product goes to the central valley of California.

Most, if not all of the limestone from Blue Mountain Minerals remains in northern California. It is not exported to other countries.

Blue Mountain Minerals has 1,200 acres of property, most of which is a natural environment and contains wildlife. The permitted area of the mine itself is 309 acres. The fifty year permit to utilize the quarry was granted in the early 2000’s.

Redoutey said that the natural resource combined with the permit allows the current roster of forty-six employees to retain good paying jobs and benefits.

“We have a great crew and we expect a lot from them. We treat our employees well. They give us new ideas and share thoughts on how we can do things better.”

According to Redoutey, it is important that Blue Mountain Minerals continues to remain involved and active in the community. This is not limited to financial support but several employees volunteer their time to become involved in various causes and organizations.

“It’s one of the things that attracted me to Blue Mountain Minerals,” said Redouted. “It’s rare that a company like this becomes as involved in the region as we are. We want to be everywhere where we feel that we can do good in the county.”

Redoutey himself is a part of Sunrise Rotary and is on the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
