Tuolumne School Unification Meeting

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Those who are interested in helping qualify the school unification issue for a ballot will meet tomorrow. The place and time for the meeting is the Starbucks meeting room in The Junction shopping Center on Wednesday, November 20th, at 9:00am. The group hosting the meet up is Tuolumne County Committee for Unification of Resources for Education (TuCCURE)

TuCCURE Member Domenic Torchia says he expects “a good little crowd.” He says, “We just want to get it on the ballot and we can debate everything else later, we just need some help in doing that.” Torchia says there is no time limit on how long they have to collect signatures and adds, “We have several volunteers now but we need more because the county is so spread out.”

Torchia previously explained that the group needs 25% of each of the 11 school districts; “For example, the Sonora High School District would be 22,400 voters of which 25% would be 5,600 signatures needed.”

The meeting is open to whoever wants to help and who ever wants to gather signatures.
