SAF: Community Foundation Week
Sonora, CA — The Sonora Area Foundation is joining more than 750 community foundations across America for Community Foundation Week this week (Nov. 12-18 due to the holiday).
This annual week is for community foundations to tell the stories of lives changed, jobs created and communities transformed through philanthropy’s partnership with private and public community leaders and organizations. For details on how the Sonora Area Foundation has helped view Executive Director, Ed Wyllie’s blog here.
Community foundations are independent entities that steward philanthropic resources from institutional and individual donors to local nonprofits and organizations. Wyllie says they are “the heart of strong, vibrant communities.”
A 2012 Columbus Survey found that through the economic recovery, grants by community foundations have increased by 21% since 2006.
