Yosemite Announces Free Admission This Weekend
Yosemite Valley, CA– In celebration of Veteran’s Day this Monday, Yosemite National Park will offer free admission into the park this weekend.
Spokesperson Scott Gediman was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
The fee waiver is for all visitors Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Fees being waived for the holiday weekend include the fees associated with entrance into the park only. All other fees associated with camping, lodging, or activities within the park are not waived, and the fee waiver only applies to this weekend.
According to Gediman, “This is a great weekend to visit as Tioga Pass (Hwy 120) and Glacier Point Road are both open. Some years, both of these roads are closed by this time of the year due to snow and ice”.
Gediman said that some of the much higher hiking trails do have snow on them. He urges caution.
If you would like to drive all the way across Tioga Pass, Gediman reminds you to have plenty of food and gas, as the services along Highway 120, are beginning to become limited.
Also, many of the hiking trails in the immediate area of Hetch Hetchy remain closed, due to damage from the Rim Fire earlier this year.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
