Sonora, CA – There is a new Executive Director taking over the Habitat for Humanity of Tuolumne County (HFHTC). The Board voted unanimously on Tuesday to hire Tim Batton as Executive Director.

Batton is from Niles, Michigan. His credentials include 25 years of experience in various nonprofit and for profit enterprises. He also has more than 12 years of experience in the housing and building industry. He was the Executive Director of the Greater Niles Community Development Corporation in Michigan where he developed housing opportunities for low income families, provided home owner training, and administered multiple housing-related grants. He also served as Executive Director of the Ferry Street Resource Center, a community agency serving individuals with limited resources, and took the lead in two organizations that provide housing for senior citizens.

HFHTC Board President Margaret McCreary stresses these goals, “What we are looking for is an Executive Director that can lead the Board through a strategic plan, gain from community involvement what the housing needs are and what the community would like to see. Also, to finish the Parrotts Ferry Village where we still have about 25 homes to build.”

Battoncompeted against 40  other applicants. His first day is November 11th and his salary will be $55,000. McCreary says Batton and his wife Jackie had already planned to move to California to be closer to two sons and a new grandchild.

Batton says, “Jackie and I are excited to be moving to Tuolumne County and getting to know the beautiful communities around Sonora. I welcome the opportunity to lead the Habitat for Humanity team in assisting new deserving home buyers weave themselves into the fabric of this area through the process of homeownership.”

Batton replaces Betsy Harden who requested to move into the position of Resource Development Manager within HFHTC this past July.
