$70,000 Raised For Meals On Wheels
Sonora, CA — The final numbers are still being tabulated, but organizers say this past weekend’s Meals On Wheels fundraiser at Railtown raised over $70,000.
Event co-chair Ron Patel says 430 were on hand Saturday evening. It was originally scheduled to take place on August 24, but had to be postponed because of the Rim Fire. “It went very well, and we were very fortunate with the weather,” says Patel. “It went wonderful, and we’ll be back again next year for year eight.”
This year’s event had a 40’s theme and featured a train ride, dinner, auction and raffle. The money helps provide needed meals to the 500 seniors in the community that benefit from the Meals on Wheels program.
