Painting A Tribute

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA– The Sonora’s Certified Farmers’ Market had more than fresh food to offer patrons this weekend. There was plenty of artwork on display too. More than 50 artists with paint brushes in hand helped to make the mural tribute to Ed “The Flower Guy” Rodriguez come to life. He was killed in car crash going home from the market last year on Highway 49 near Angels Camp in Calaveras County. The mural was approved by the City earlier this year. Mural Designer Judy Grossman says it took a lot of hard work and supplies.

“There is over 200 pounds of paint and the panels are aluminum and they are mounted to the wall. There is a banner and it is being painted separately and then it will be mounted on the wall,” says Grossman.

If you want to get a look at the mural you can head to the Sonora Farmers’ Market Site at 105 S. Stewart Street. There will be a mural dedication next Saturday during the Farmers’ Market.
