Brown Signs Minimum Wage Bill

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The minimum wage will soon be going up in California.

Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation this morning to increase the current $8 minimum to $9 in 2014 and $10 by 2016. Brown stated the legislation will help working class families.

Local District 14 Republican Senator Tom Berryhill was one of the votes against the hike. He recently stated, “California is more expensive to live in, but my concern is that it will keep employers from adding more people to the workforce.”

The last time California’s minimum wage saw an increase was six years ago.
