Vision Sonora Plan Near Completion
Sonora, CA — The Vision Sonora plan has been in the works for several months.
It is designed to provide a roadmap improve the mobility and appearance of the downtown district. City of Sonora Community Development Director Rachelle Kellogg says an open house is scheduled for October 1st from 4-7pm where the community can see the latest draft and give input. The final plan will go before the Sonora City Council for approval in November.
The plan will be used as a guide, and used to help secure grant funding to construct the projects. As we reported in back in June, some of the preliminary ideas included a multipurpose trail down Stockton Road, outdoor restaurant seating in the downtown district, additional trees, community plazas, and new signage.
The Vision Sonora effort is being overseen by the City of Sonora and Tuolumne County Transportation Council. Funding for the project came from a $225K state grant.
