Brown Backs Minimum Wage Hike

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — Governor Jerry Brown is voicing support for a plan to increase the state’s minimum wage up to $10 by 2016.

“The minimum wage has not kept pace with rising costs,” says Brown. “This legislation is overdue and will help families that are struggling in this harsh economy.”

California’s minimum wage is currently $8. AB 10 was approved by the Assembly in May, and could see a vote in the Senate today. It would raise the minimum wage to $9 in 2014 and to $10 in 2016.
