Bridges Fire Is 75% Contained

Sponsored by:

Calaveras County, CA — A fire burning near Natural Bridges is notably smaller in size than the original estimate.

CAL Fire officials stated throughout the weekend that the Bridges Fire was 127 acres. Spokesperson Lisa Williams says GPS mapping now puts the size at 46 acres. She points out that judging the size of fires on hillsides can be very difficult due to the mountainous terrain.

The fire, located near Parrotts Ferry Road and Camp Nine, is expected to be contained by later today. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. No homes or structures are considered to be in danger. Only a limited amount of smoke has been coming from the fire this morning. Two firefighters have experienced injuries, but the extent is not immediately known. The fire is not impacting traffic on Parrotts Ferry Road.
