HWY 49 Delays

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — PG & E crews doing maintenance could cause traffic delays at two spots in Calaveras County. It is all part of the company’s modernizing gas infrastructure project. Crews have begun replacing underground distribution pipelines on Highway 49 and Snyder Court. The highway will be down to one way traffic for the project which is scheduled to run until September 30th.

A second repair project will start October 1st and is scheduled to run through the end of the year. It will close one lane of traffic on East Angels Road and Toyon Drive. PG & E says they are trying to cause as little disruption as possible to motorists, residents and business in those areas.

“For the most part we have alerted those groups to the work. Also, we have really tried to limit the impact on them, but we do understand that it might be an inconvenience for them. We are working as quickly and safely as we can to modernize our system,” says PG&E spokesperson Nicole Liebelt.

Liebelt says the work will be done weather permitting and could take longer than originally scheduled.
