Berryhill And Bigelow Promote Fire Fee Appeals

Sponsored by:

Senator Tom Berryhill and Assemblyman Frank Bigelow have released a joint statement about the California Fire Fee.

The information they provide gives details on how to appeal the Fire Fee. The full statement is posted in a blog here.

The Fire Fee was passed as part of the 2011 State Budget. According to Berryhill and Bigelow “Collection of the tax was suspended this spring because of numerous errors in billing addresses and other confusion. The confusion continues, but the Board of Equalization has started mailing out bills once again.”

Residential property owners living in rural and unincorporated parts of California may receive the bill from the Board of Equalization for fire prevention and safety services.
