Aspen Fire Grows To 14K Acres

Fresno County, CA — A fire that is responsible for noticeable drift smoke in the Mother Lode has grown to 14,147 acres.


The lightning caused Aspen Fire is located in the Sierra National Forest in Fresno County. 1,672 firefighters are assigned to the incident, and yesterday officials called in a large DC-10 Air Tanker to assist. The fire has grown over recent days due to increased temperatures and decreased humidity. The Sierra National Forest has issued at “Forest Closure Order” for the Kaiser Wilderness.


Several roads and campgrounds in the area are closed. The fire is listed as 20% contained. It is located in a steep and rugged terrain. Click here to view a map.
