Sierra Firefighters Brace for Wind

Sponsored by:

Firefighters are racing to corral a raging 14-thousand-500-acre forest fire west of Reno as high winds make
their job harder.

The blaze is 50 percent contained with the rest bordered by only a “preliminary line.´´

Forecasters say a weather system will
bring stronger winds to the Sierra, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour over the weekend.

Fire officials say that will probably push the blaze eastward
toward 500 or so suburban Reno homes.
